29 and lookin fine.

we celebrated josh's 29th birthday all weekend long. on saturday night, we went out with a bunch of our friends to the new albany exchange. so many people showed up to celebrate josh and the food was super tasty, as always. on sunday, i made josh lemon bars and let him open one of his presents...a new scripture case! we sure know how to party over here.
yesterday, on his actual birthday, he opened his birthday card from taylor and j (we love y'all!)...
and his present from momma georgia-new shorts and a shirt! talk about handsome. he also opened his new shirt i got him but i forgot to document that. woops. he looooves his new wardrobe and he looked so sexy on his first day of school today.
happy 29th birthday josh! you're the best!

huber farms.

last saturday, josh and i headed to huber's to get some yummy produce and walk around. the weather was perfect and it was just what i needed. oh, and the ice cream was the cherry on top. creamy, yummy heaven on a cone.

they have these massive orange fish in the lake. seriously, they're like the size of a small child. i would be terrified to get in the water.
apparently, they had just had a wedding, so josh and i played bride and groom.
i didn't have a bouquet, so i used one of the potted plants. look how petite it makes me look. bonus!
it was the perfect afternoon with my handsome hubs.

mr. golden.

i should mention that i'm already crying as i type this post thanks to my sweet sis-in-law, jaimee's, tender post about our fam...

josh's golden birthday (29 on the 29th) is just around the corner, so i thought i'd take some time to record some of my fave things about my love.

i seriously married the best man in the whole world. no one is more kind or more patient with me. he loves me so so much and he shows it each day by the way he treats me. no matter how sassy or grouchy i am, he stays calm and sweet. he never makes me feel stupid...in fact he makes me feel really smart (which if you know my school record, you know that's sayin a lot). he's my best friend. he always loves what i cook or bake and tells me how talented i am in the kitchen. and in the bedroom ha just kidding, kinda. anyways, josh really is the sweetest, goofiest kid around and i'm so glad that i get to spend eternity with him.

i can't wait to see him as a dad in 10 weeks. that truebs is a lucky one.

i love you so much, josh. thanks for all you do for our family every day.

29 weeks.

i cannot believe i'm due in 11 weeks! soon, i'll be holding little truebs in my arms and smelling that sweet baby smell all day long. oh, and soon my heartburn will end. woot woot! my mom and brynn are here for the weekend and it's been so much fun to have them around. i sure love my family and it's so sweet to watch them love on our little one before she's even born.
ok, well we don't know if she's a she yet, but apparently my mom is pretty sure. yes, she did buy truebs a pink crib bumper and quilt. that georgia...

baby's room.

when josh got home from miami he was feeling super productive, so we decided to make some progress on baby truebie's room. i got these three prints from etsy and i adore them. the little salt lake city temple print is my fave (from here). i got the idea to hang the prints from pant hangers from em. it's super affordable and adds a quirky element to the space. now all we're missing is some kind of organizational rack to store clothes and blankets and some cute bedding, but i'm holding off on the bedding until after the babe is born. i'm sure he or she won't mind.

work out.

oh hey, could i please look like these ladies one day? i desperately need to get my prego self to the gym more often. i mean, i have a y membership and i like working out...so you would think i'd be hittin the gym up regularly. and you would be wrong. this week, josh and i have vowed to make working out a priority. plus, i hear walking lots helps the labor to go smoother. anything for an easy labor!

happy 28 weeks baby truebs.

dear baby,
i love you so much already. so does your dad. we're smitten with every kick, hiccup, and twist you do in my ever growing tummy. today, i went and looked at a house with the porters and the realtor said you're a girl (he had me do this weird chin test...that was a first). i can't wait to see your cute little face in just 12 weeks! please keep growing big and strong. oh, and keep kicking those nice big kicks because they really make my day.
love,
mom

thoughts.

the closer i get to becoming a mama, the more i think about my own parents. josh and i were going through my box of elementary writing assignments a few nights ago and i was getting teary eyed. everything i wrote was so spunky and imaginative and i owe that to my parents. they encouraged me to read and to write often. i remember being on long road trips with my family and my dad would say, "kaylea, write me a story." and i would.then, in jr high when i would get sleepy, my mom would read my assigned novels to me and i loved it. i'm grateful for the mom and dad i have. they're so supportive of me and they always make me feel like i can do anything. i really did get the cream of the crop in the parents department.

thank you mike and george. love y'all to pieces.

p.s. in second grade i wanted to be a babysitter when i grew up. looks like i'm about to be a permanent one. woohoo!

lemon bars.

i think i've only had lemon bars once or twice in my life, but i remember them being seriously delicious, so last weekend i decided to whip up a batch. oh em gee. best dessert ever. they arent complicated and the taste is so pure and heavenly. i used this recipe (my only tweaks were omitting the lemon zest because i don't own a zester...yet and decreasing the cooking time on the crust by 2 minutes) and they turned out perfect!

27 weeks!

hello third trimester! today, at my ob appt, i took the glucose test. cross your fingers i don't have gestational diabetes everyone! if you follow my tweets, you know i can't say no to an after dinner treat. i mean, can you say homemade baked goods??

also, at my appt, my nurse practitioner and i had a really great talk about natural childbirth. she went natural with all of hers and said it was the best thing ever. i love hearing stories about natural deliveries and i can't wait to experience it soon!

north market's farmers' market.

last weekend, josh and i hopped on over to columbus to see the dalby crew. i was so excited for josh to experience the north market-it's right up his alley. during the summer, they have a farmers market every saturday and the produce is divine. we stocked up on some tomatoes and cucumbers and made ourselves a nice greek salad for sunday dinner. perfection.
